Meet Your Neighbours

Peter and Molly

Peter and Molly

When you move into Lifestyle Brookfield the first people you're likely to meet are our resident village managers, Peter and Molly.

Your friendly village managers are always around to answer any questions you may have about village life. Peter and Molly are the people you need to see if you would like to add to your garden landscaping,  customise your home, or even if you would like any special arrangements for when you are off on holidays.

In addition to the practicalities of village life, Peter and Molly are there for information on any up coming activities that you may want to get involved in. They will coordinate the village bus, available to take residents to local shops, golf clubs and other venues.

Eileen and Peter

Eileen and Peter moved to Brookfield Village two years ago and have been enjoying themselves immensely. They had driven past the village many times but not visited. “One day when passing, the lights were red and we decided to go in and look,” Eileen said. “We were so impressed we went to the office, got all the information, and a week later came back and signed up.”

They had considered moving ten years ago however there were no lifestyle villages in Victoria back then and they hadn’t seen anything else worth moving for.
Eileen has learnt to use a computer since moving to Brookfield, and the office staff always help when she needs it. “It is such as friendly village, you feel safe and protected here,” she said, “I’ve recommended this place to lots of my friends.”

Pauline and Warren Simpson

Pauline and Warren

Pauline and Warren were the very first Brookfield residents and moved into Brookfield when it was still a muddy construction site. “I have made a lot of friends. The people and the support here are just wonderful,” she said.

Pauline says that the bowling green, clubhouse, leisure centre and numerous other activities and facilities are a great way to meet people. The monthly morning teas, regular barbeques and happy hours are also well attended. Last year Pauline went on an eight-day cruise with Brookfield friends. “I’ve always wanted to go on a cruise, but I would never go alone, and I wouldn’t have had the free cash if I had stayed in my previous home,” she said.

Recently Pauline celebrated her Australian citizenship at a BBQ with friends at Brookfield.

Georgina and Ken

As youngsters Brookfield residents Georgina and Ken both swam competitively for clubs in Bendigo where Ken trained alongside Faith Leach, a bronze medalist at the 1956 Melbourne Olympics. During this time, Ken broke a record for the 50-yard swim. “I didn’t actually know about it until the paper reported my name when the record was broken ten years later,” he laughed.

Both were delighted to help celebrate the opening of the new Leisure Centre at Brookfield and have made good use of the centre. “It’s fantastic, very well appointed,” said Georgina.

Georgina and Ken gave up competitive swimming due to the demands of a busy family life, but remained active and taught their three children to swim. Ken also took up soccer and played on the same team as his two sons for a while. Their eldest son, Craig inherited the sporting genes and became the first non-American to win the race to the top of the Empire State building.

These days they live an active life at Brookfield - and quite a social one too. “We’ve met some really nice people here, we’re so pleased,” Georgina said. Ken agrees. “It’s a very social village, we go for a half hour evening walk and come home two hours later because of all the chats along the way,” he said. They enjoy the regular morning teas, happy hours, barbeques and various outings on offer.
